Rochester College To Present “Opal”
Rochester College’s theatre department will present “Opal,” an award-winning Broadway hit by Robert Nassif Lindsey, in April.
Opal, which will be directed by Robert Arbaugh, tells the story of a 7-year-old aristocratic girl who is orphaned in a shipwreck and placed in an Oregon lumber camp in 1904. Her one desire is to find the secret way to return to her parents and her former life. To survive, she creates a world of fantasy and enchantment. The magic of her imagination transforms the lives of those around her: the shy lumberjack, the blind girl and her embittered foster mother. Finally, in the ashes of a devastating forest fire, Opal discovers hope and home.
Evening performances of Opal will be April 4-6 and April 11-13 at 7:30 p.m. while matinee performances will be April 7 and 14 at 2 p.m. All productions take place on the campus of Rochester College at 800 W. Avon Road, Rochester Hills, MI 48307. Tickets are $5 for students and $12 in advance ($15 at the door).
