Author and playwright Beth Kander, whose dystopian novel debuted in 2018, will present a writing workshop and book signing on Thursday, March 21, at Rochester College.

Kander’s dystopian epic, “Original Syn,” debuted in September 2018, and the second in the series will be released in summer 2019. An award-winning playwright, Kander’s newest play, “Hazardous Materials,” will receive its world premiere at Creede Repertory Theatre in Colorado in July 2019. Kander, who lives and writes in Chicago, earned her master’s degree in creative writing from Mississippi University for Women with concentrations in fiction and playwriting. She also earned degrees from Brandeis University and the University of Michigan.

Kander’s book signing and meet and greet will take place in RC’s Ennis and Nancy Ham Library from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. A playwriting workshop, “What Story Do You Want to Tell?” will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the CHILL. Both events are free and open to the public. No registration is necessary.
