The Rochester College family expresses its sympathy for the loss of the following former students and employees during the last eighteen months.
Heidi (Stewart) Hoffman, class of 1997, passed away suddenly on February 4, 2008. Heidi's father, Ed Stewart, is a member of the class of 1971, and her mother, Judy (Sparks) Stewart, a member of the class of 1970. Her brother, Eddie, is a 1998 graduate.
Following his long battle with brain cancer, John Campbell, Center for Extended Learning class of 2003, passed away on December 10, 2007. John was very proud of the CEL program and his courage touched many throughout the Rochester Hills community.
Elisabeth "Liz" Henderson, class of 1966, passed away on January 3, 2008 of cancer. Liz was the sister and sister-in-law of class of 1968 alumni Larry and Linda Bridgesmith.
Sam Washington, class of 1974, died on October 9, 2007. Wife, Peggy (Patton), class of 1970 is also an alumnus of the college.
Following a battle with cancer, Brenda (Hill) Tyler, class of 1985, passed away on July 25, 2007.
After a brief battle with cancer, Joan (Clary) Dillinger passed away on May 18, 2007. Both Joan and her husband, Jim, are members of the class of 1962. Jim returned to the college to complete a degree in professional ministry in 2007.
John Johnson, class of 1978, died on April 9, 2007. John's wife, Jennifer (Almond) Johnson, is a member of the class of 1976 and his son, Doug, a member of the class of 2006. Another son, Mike, and a daughter, Jamie, are current students at Rochester College.
David Wendt, class of 2006, died on February 7, 2007 from a reaction to medication.
Amanda Gillam, class of 2000, died on January 22, 2007 from complications caused by a blood clot.
An adult student from the class of 1997, Carl Swanigan passed away on December 30, 2006.
John Axe, class of 1963, died from cancer on December 7, 2006. Three of John's children are also alumni, Wanda, class of 1984, Erin, class of 1996, and Eric, class of 1997.
Renee Davis, Center for Extended Learning class of 2003, died on September 6, 2006.
