“Impact on Student Learning” by Kelsey Wright-Alexander focuses on her ability to effectively assess students, and adapt lessons accordingly. It began with a pre-assessment of the students’ ability to recognize and name the numbers 1-10. The data from the pre-assessments was used in creating lessons for the students based off of what they already knew, and what they needed more emphasis on. Several forms of assessment were given throughout the unit to adjust instruction based off of the students’ needs. After the unit was through, a post-assessment was given. The results of this assessment were analyzed to determine Wright-Alexander’s effectiveness in analyzing assessments and adapting instruction. Results from the pre-assessment were compared with results from the post-assessment to determine that the instruction had a positive impact on student learning.
