The Resource Center for Missional Leadership at Rochester College exists to provide resources for congregations and their leaders for a faithful, missional engagement with God’s world.
For many congregations and their leaders, a missional engagement with their local culture represents a fairly significant transformation. The “if you build it they will come” approach to congregational life simply no longer produces what it once did. New patterns of congregational life that feature the “sent” nature of the church will need to be cultivated.
Because this is a new environment for most congregations, there are few experts and one size does not fit all. RCML hopes to bring congregations and their leaders together in shared learning so that new resources might be discovered for a faithful future in God’s mission.
To accomplish this task, RCML will conduct research within congregations, develop resources for congregational use, provide ongoing enrichment for congregational leaders, and provide practical/academic training through the MRE in Missional Leadership.
The RCML is directed by Dr. Mark Love, who served congregations in Texas and Oregon fulltime for 17 years, and subsequently taught missional leadership in the Graduate School of Theology at Abilene Christian University. Dr. Love also consults with congregations interested in missional transformation.
